Guilds or clans are established to defeat enemies and assist each other. Some members may put attention on supporting roles while others care about more direct action. Members in role-playing games are eager to learn trade skills such as mining and blacksmithing to be able to acquire good weapons and armors at little or no cost. Similarly, a player in first-person shooter games may self-train to be a sniper, a medic or some other specific role. Since they have a clear idea that their clan mates can fill complementary roles with little discussion, they hope to more effectively use their available manpower. This division of labor often has something to do with the overall administration of the clan as well, with an individual accepting responsibility such as recruiting, coordinating league play or server administration.
