In my opinion, healing type should vary. In the case you want to send a healing light beam while your target is wailing away at enemies. This is fine, but you are suggested to do the following thing. First of all, make preparation to have wasted energy or healed an enemy if you miss. Second of all, you should not be as effective as if you had gotten out some proper medicines stitched up a gash, set a bone, or disinfected a wound, because all of these should be out if combat skills and separate from a purely magic based heal. They should be most effective against pure magic curses and kind of so-so against the rest.
