Mortal Online features a robust gaming environment which features multiple ways of reaching common objectives. Healing, for instance, has three arts.
1. First Aid (application of bandages)
2. Magic
3. Alchemical (potion based)
First aid requires bandages to be purchased and available (takes carrying capacity), however it allows any player to heal either themselves or others. It is a universal skill, although it can be specialized to benefit from the additional application of herbs and salves.
Magical healing is actually somewhat inefficient in Mortal Online, due to the amount of magic which is required to heal a character other than one’s self. Magic is usually best applied toward damaging foes rather than healing allies. This is a significant break from typical MMOs and grossly affects play style.
Alchemical healing requires the use of potions. Though this form of healing is most powerful, it also requires the greatest amount of preparation as potions come at an expense, and must be crafted from prepared ingredients at a lab located in a city. This too, makes Mortal Online really stand out. Suddenly, guilds must do great preparation before raids, and it’s based on tradeskills. Alchemists are able to apply potions upon themselves or others, and provide the greatest benefit, although this form of healing requires close proximity to the target player.
